Where I'm At

2/6/15
Day Six

Today I am thankful for:
DWENG group meeting - ideas
Croinuts (deep fried croissants)
A call from my baby girl

I've just had the idea that I should tell you where I am starting so we all know how this goes:)
  • I have approximately $24K in credit card debt and I live paycheck to paycheck.  I do pay all my bills on time
  • I am separated from my husband of 35 years who is shacked up with another woman - my divorce is final 2/27
  • My job is kinda fun and kinda frustrating but always ALWAYS on the verge of the business failing financially.
  • My kids and grandkids are awesome. Although my daughters are far away.  I love to be around my family.
  • I'm a little overweight. Not bad but could lose 15 pounds.  I am definitely out of shape.
  • I'm 53 and a little bit of a worrier about either being alone or finding a new man at my age.
  • I grew up in a very very fundamental church that basically taught me that my very existence is a pain in God's ass.  That he's watching all the time, waiting for me to screw up so he can shoot me down.  This causes quite a bit of anxiety.  And suppresses your ability to figure out who you really are.
I have a vision board for things I am going to have in my life.  But I am going to set more specific goals.  I will post them soon.

Tonight I had the opportunity to go to the DWENG meeting.  This is a Dallas Women's Executive meeting group.  They hosted a speaker who specializes in the area of finding a new job.
It so interesting how often you hear folks talk about your thoughts creating your reality.  Even though I am sure it was being said before, I didn't hear it.  The speaker's first comments were about how you the universe can lead you to the right job.  That you should always be looking/listening because you never know when or where the universe might send your new job your way.

I also heard things that were in line with some of my ideas.  She talked about being a coach. As soon as she said that I thought that was just for me, specifically cooking.  I'd love to teach how to cook. Just the basics for those who can't boil water LOL.  I don't know when or where or how but I'll do that one day!

I spent some time on a dating website tonight.  I am learning to be myself and just talk.

Today I:
Listened and spoke positive affirmations
Jogged on my mini trampoline
Ate poorly :(

Hi! My Name Is....

Days 3 & 4
2/3 & 2/4/15

Well I got home so late last night, I didn't get a chance to blog about my day...
Gratefulness #1 - Getting home late because I was out making new friends
Gratefulness #2 - Having the courage put myself out there
Gratefulness #3 - My new Sperry shoes!
Gratefulness #4 - Talking with my Dad on the phone

Tuesday night I attended a divorce recovery group meeting.  Now remember, my goal 'until I feel like I should stop' is to be friendly and meet new people.  Smile!
The meeting was good.  Mostly because it just lets you know that you are not alone.  That other people are hurting and struggling with similar problems.  But the best part for me was that they go out for social interaction after the meeting. I stepped out of my comfort zone and really tried to start conversations and to be existent.   I am going out Monday evening with some of the ladies to a farewell party to one of the girls who is going out of the country for work for 3 months. So excited to get to know them a little better.

Now I know this blog is supposed be about whether or not I can attract good things to my life.
A couple of thoughts about last night:

  • I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to work with Suzan Jonz Perez and listen and read so much stuff from Louise Hay.  Because even though I am far, very far, from where I need to be on the enlightenment scale, I have come such a long way.  There were many people there that I just wanted to say, "you're thoughts are keeping you stuck" or try some positive affirmations or EFT.  I can see that I am being loved and cared for and I am blessed.
  • I started getting a little freaked out because some negative self talk started coming in. Things like 'you just think you're better than these people'.  So I have some tapping to do to figure out where that is coming from because I am pretty sure that is a self-sabotage.

I also am really into a new website/You Tube channel called PinchMeLiving.com.  I listen to her subliminal messages in the evening before I sleep.  And I really liked her message about signs from the Universe. I am really enjoying her perspective. She's a little more practical.  One interesting thing she mentioned was that the Universe sometimes brings a song to your mind. She suggested looking up all the words to the song.  Well, you may know that Katy Perry was the star of the Superbowl halftime show.  She sang Roar. Well I never sing that song.  But I woke up this morning singing that song.  So I looked up the lyrics and they talk about someone who hasn't been able to speak up or say what they wanted to say and they are breaking out of that.  I think I can relate!  Interesting stuff.

Techniques: I've been meditating, jogging on my mini-tramp, using EFT and positive affirmations.

Smile and be friendly

2/2/15
Day Two

Today I am grateful for:
1. the ability to exercise
2. video texts of my grand babies
3. a job where I can have some freedom

I made it part of my tramp jog to chant, "friendly & smile".  That is my goal until I feel led to change it.  I want to have friends and I am going to have to make them,   I am going to get out and have some fun.  So each day, I am going to try to smile a little more and speak a little more often.  You never know where you might meet your next new friend.  I don't think it is likely that the universe will send someone knocking on my 3rd story apartment door just looking for a new friend.  More likely the universe will send one when I am out among some people, I just need to keep my eyes, ears and intuition open.

I made it a point to contact a couple of friends I hadn't talked to in a while (via text) tonight when I go got home from work.  I spent a little time on a dating site.  I'm a little hesitant until my divorce is final but I want to get in a little practice.  I am simply focusing on how I can be more confident in my approach to new people.

My LOA activities today included:
Trampoline jogging for 20 minutes while saying or listening to positive affirmations
Ab workout
10 minute meditation
Positive Affirmations

Moving forward.......

Off to an interesting start

2/1/2015
Day One:

Today I am grateful for:
1. My health
2. My grandson's - they always make me smile and they always make me feel loved.
3. Great Food to eat.

Today I got my court date information in the mail for the dissolution of my 35 year marriage.
Not the kind of event that you want to cheer about.  Although I knew it was coming (thus the dissolution not divorce), it put a little bit of a heaviness on my heart today.  And interestingly enough, I had a conversation with my soon to be ex last night and told him that I could not continue talking with him on the phone.  He wants to continue the conversations like we are best buddies or maybe even somehow strangely 'a couple' via phone connection.  Problem is, he is living with another woman.  I just keep thinking of the analogy of a man that beats his wife; while hitting her in the face; he tells her he tells her how much he loves her.  Something's wrong with that picture.   I've been taking that beating for almost a year now.  Sooooo.... LOA and Mind Power and Louise Hay say that this problem only presents me with an opportunity.  What an opportunity on Day 1 of my journey.  Is that the universes timing or what?
Affirmations:  I am learning to set healthy boundaries. I am learning to love myself.  I am worthy of being loved and in a wonderful relationship.

I had a dream last night and I remembered it.  Now, you might think.. so what! But for me that is a rare event.  In the dream Chloe from "Dance Moms" was given a starring role as a princess.  Now, if you read much about the power of the brain and study some of the info out there about dreams, then this dream could indicate that in fact, I will soon be getting the starring role of princess.  I do like the idea of that. :)

Here are the techniques I used today:
Listened to positive affirmations
Spoke positive affirmations
Meditated for 20 minutes focusing on love and friendships
Jogged for 20 minutes

Does it work for the Common Gal?

Why am I writing this blog?

I want to know and I want everyone else to know if things like positive thinking, the Law of Attraction and positive affirmations really work for the every day person.

Now why would I have such a question?  Shouldn't I just believe it?

Let's take "The Secret" for example.  I watched that movie and I must say, I am very interested in the concept and I do believe that our minds are very powerful and that we do, at least in part, create our own reality.

Where a common everyday gal like me gets stuck is that everyone on that movie is a very wealthy person.  So I have to take on blind trust that they got there they way they say.  Maybe I am cynical but our society is so full of scam artists that only want to take your money that I would be that way just a little.

I spent 4 hours just today listening to John Assaraf trying to sell me his $1,000 plan to reprogram my mind.  By the way, it is a $16,000 value, so $1,000 is a steal.  Except for I don't have $1,000 to send to him so I can download a file from the internet.  That got me thinking; if John and all the others from "The Secret" all are plain ole human beings just like me with not so perfect lives, then I should be able to do the same, IF I apply the principles too.

So here's my plan for the next 90 days:
I am going to listen to and speak Positive Affirmations every day
Meditate or some other self care tool
Set Goals
Visualize
Continue to see my Rapid Eye Therapy counselor (something I'm already doing)

I will keep you posted on the changes in my life.

I'll start my positive affirmations by saying, "I am capable of completing this task."
I am excited about the upcoming journey!
